If spoken language delineates the boundaries of the rational, then art beckons to the intuitive. It explores the realm of the unspoken—offering glimpses into the omnipresent essence buried deep within our primal, inchoate core.

For me, the act of painting is a meditative journey into uncharted worlds. I navigate these inner landscapes through texture, color, atmosphere, and exotic imagery, using the abstract as my language. There is a sense of awe and discovery as each painting emerges—a slow, organic process of layering, mark-making, and erasure, an interplay of color and form. The work reveals itself gradually, guided more by intuition than intention. I invite a deeper kind of looking, one that connects to something beyond the surface.

Art is the nectar that feeds my soul. It is my attempt to weave together the sacred and the simple, the past and the present—to form a bridge to the universality of the human spirit.

INTERVIEW

How would you describe your work?

I am a mixed media abstract artist. My art is introspective, hopeful and delves deeper then what’s on the surface. Color, composition and texture play an important role in the process, however my paintings intuitively follow their own path. Through the process of excavating and revealing I am able to connect to parts of myself and the collective unconscious. My intent is to let my instincts guide me and take me places that I would not have imagined, in turn hoping the viewer can have that experience as well.

What are the threads that run thru your work?

Open spaces, organic shapes, expressive marks, lots of layers, portals as entryways to another realm. My collages are poetic, meditative pieces that are somewhat esoteric.

What inspires you?

I have always been curious about the world around me. I am a seeker of “truth”. The grandness of nature, the beautiful simple moments in life that are awe inspiring. Soulful music, dance, poetry. Various cultures and traditions fascinate me, and more currently Kabbalah - Jewish mysticism. Artists, innovators past and present. Art history is very inspirational to me, learning how artists throughout history were creating and sharing new perspectives and their truth. How they viewed or interpreted the world.

What artists have most influence you?

Gerhard Richter - his innovations and evolving explorations.

Richard Diebenkorn - his use of space, line and mark making.

Mark Bradford - his intriguing textured large collage type paintings.

Israeli Artists of “The New Horizons” for abstracted portrayal of landscapes.

Hannelore Baron - soulful and sensitive collage work

…just to name a few.

How did you become interested in art?

I have loved art all of my life. I still have recollections of the art closet in elementary school that was filled with bottles of different colored tempura paint that would light me up. Art class in school was where I was the happiest. During my childhood years and beyond, I would immerse in my own art and craft projects, making furniture out of egg cartons, feather flower bouquets, mosaics and various art forms. A few years after graduating from UCLA, I decided to go back to school, enrolling in advertising and design classes and assembling a portfolio. I worked at several advertising agencies, and later in the entertainment industry creating and designing award winning print ads, packaging, billboards, marketing campaigns for close to 30 years. My professional life was creative, but my spirit sought a deeper language. When I immersed myself in painting, printmaking and collage, I found the direction that felt authentically my own.
